You and your family will be pleasantly surprised at all the things there are to do and see in this beautiful Lincolnshire Market Town.
Spalding has a vibrant town centre, much of which is situated in a conservation area, with unique independent shops and a number of East European supermarkets with a wide range of continental foodstuffs for you to discover; a traditional English market day on Tuesdays and Saturdays; historical buildings to visit such as Ayscoughfee Hall and Gardens, the Chain Bridge Forge (which is a living museum) and a myriad of outstanding churches which are situated throughout the town. There are many fine restaurants, coffee shops, public houses and night clubs to satisfy all tastes and budgets and why not enjoy a film, musical show or play at the South Holland Centre or have a fun time at Alley-Catz bowling.
Spalding boasts beautiful Georgian terraces and tree-lined walks along the River Welland, which runs through the centre of town. You can also take a trip on the famous Spalding water taxi, which will take you to the Springfields Outlet Shopping Centre and award winning Festival Gardens.
Spalding is an excellent base for visiting some of the other attractions in the South Holland area. Experience the diversity of habitats around the Wash Estuary, one of Europe’s most protected coastal areas; visit the magnificent churches in the surrounding towns and villages, many of which have spectacular annual flower festivals; or just enjoy the tranquillity and relaxation whilst exploring the network of Fens waterways. There’s certainly plenty to see and do in and around the Spalding area, and all under Lincolnshire’s famous “big skies”.
Whatever you decide to do, the Town Centre Management Team sincerely hopes that you enjoy this guide and your visit to Spalding and that you will come again and, also tell your family and friends about us!
Very Best Wishes,
Dennis Hannant MBE
